Jordan Rubin’s (founder of ‘Garden of Life, Inc.’) Natural Health Testimony

January 30, 2010 Posted by admin

In 1994, Jordan Rubin was a healthy, active 19 year-old college student, when he was diagnosed with Crohn’s colitis, a sometimes fatal “wasting disease” characterized by long-term inflammation of the bowel.

As in most chronic conditions, Jordan’s immune system began to fail. He suffered from intestinal parasites, severe Candida, extreme anemia, food allergies, diabetes, excruciating abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, poor circulation, liver problems, chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis, insomnia, hair loss, prostate and bladder infections, irregular heartbeat, eye inflammation, and chronic depression. Jordan’s weight dropped from 180 lbs to a low of 104 lbs at a height of 6’1″. Jordan visited over 70 health professionals from more than 7 countries and tried more than 300 supplements; however, his illness did not respond to conventional or complimentary medical approaches.

In 1996, after a two-year battle, Jordan stopped using all supplements, ceased visiting doctors and began an intense study of nutrition. His diet consisted of nothing but whole, living, enzyme and probiotic rich foods and one nutritional compound he later named HSO’s™ or Homeostatic Soil Organisms™. In Jordan’s case, the HSO’s™ detoxified his intestinal tract, increased his ability to absorb nutrients from food, and boosted his immune system. Moreover, the HSO’s™ turned really agressive against pathological molds, yeasts, fungi, and parasites of all types, which permeated his gut.

Within four months, Jordan’s weight returned and his body began to heal itself. It has been six years since his recovery, and he exhibits no symptoms of the disease that almost took his life. Jordan is now a certified nutritional consultant, certified personal fitness instructor, and CEO and Founder of Garden of Life, Inc. He is now dedicated to sharing with you the health secrets that brought him “back to life”.

Jordan earned the designation as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Peoples University of the Americas School of Natural Medicine, and most recently earned a PhD in Nutrition from Academy of Natural Therapies. He is also a Certified Nutritional Consultant, a member of the American Association of Nutritional Consultants, and a member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He resides in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with his wife, Nicole.

Difference between liquid and powdered infant formula?

January 29, 2010 Posted by admin

I usually use the liquid concentrate, but am travelling soon and thought that the powdered would be more convenient (to not worry about keeping the formula refrigerated etc). So I am trying it out before I go, and am confused. Instructions say to make a 120mL bottle, mix 120mL with two scoops. But when you do that, it makes about 150mL of formula. This makes sense to me cause the powder takes up space, but then is that 150mL of mixed formula the same as 150mL of the liquid mix, or the same as 120mL of the liquid mix? This is making me feel very dumb, I just don’t want my son to go a week not getting enough nutrition…

It is very simple. My son is on the powdered (and yes it it more convient, not having to worry about refridgerating it and it lasts longer) (I have tried liquid). For every 2oz of water add one scoop of formula. This is equal to 2oz of liquid. So to answer your question it 120ml (150ml after you add scoops) is equal to 120ml of liquid. I hope this helps you. Also its more easy if you do it my oz then ml. My son is 6mo old now and has been on this since he was born. Its safe and fine. he’s as healthy as can be:)

What should a natural/organic eater look out for on nutrition facts?

January 27, 2010 Posted by admin

What ingredients should I look out for on the nutrition facts for foods and beverages? So what is bad or good for my health? I’m not a vegan I don’t care if there is animal ingredients or anything, so just disclude that from it. Oh yeah and I’m not allergic to anything.
By the way this is not a way I’m looking to loose weight I’m actually trying to gain weight by getting more protein (with natural foods) and not to loose weight cause I’m fat or something. Cause I’m actually a really tall lanky kid.
I’m not worried about pesticides, I’m worried about high fructose corn syrup and stuff like that is processed or a bad kind of sugar

The term organic is incredibly overrated. There is absolutely no scientific evidence what so ever that non-organic food is any worse for you than organic food. In fact, if everybody ate organically there would only be enough food in the world to feed about 2/3 of the world population.

The stuff you’re worried about, like pesticides, is already strictly controlled by both FDA and the producer.

EDIT: Well there’s certainly no high fructose corn syrup in non-organic produce :) If you’re worried about processed foods, which is completely legitimate, you’ll have to buy all your foods in their original form, and add spices and such yourself. I, too, had to learn to cook my own food from the bottom up.

MSN Health has a good, scientifically correct list of food additives to avoid: (pay special attention to number 4, aka preservative E621, it’s everywhere).

Why are liquid eggs so fattening from the college cafeteria?

January 24, 2010 Posted by admin

Okay, so the scrambeled eggs they serve at the UT-Austin cafeterias have the nutrition info online. They post the ingredients as liquid eggs with Citric Acid! The nutrional label posts that it has 6 grams of protein and 13 GRAMS OF FAT in one serving! I know that’s not natural so I was wondering if anyone knew why they are so fattening? Are they highly prcessed or something? Does anyone know where they buy them from?

That is impossible my friend. I can almost guarantee that their nutritional information is wrong.

One whole egg (average size) has 5 grams of protein and about 5 grams of fat. Surely, they are serving you more than one egg per serving right? Even if it was one egg, there is NO WAY one egg has 13 grams of fat.

Since you’re in college, try to make friends with someone who’s studying nutrition or food science. Then get them to take a look at the nutritional information. I can assure you, that is completely wrong.

I’m looking for some help choosing a school to attend for holistic health care?

January 24, 2010 Posted by admin

Help?? I’m having a hard time deciding which holistic school would be best for me to attend.. I already have my BS degree from U of A in psychology I have all my sciences and chemistry classes completed up until bio chem, I would like to go back to school for something in holistic health care, especially in nutrition. I am moving to san diego and have been researching a few different schools there but always run in to some dead ends. I keep getting all these schools recommended that our online such as clayton college but feel as though they are just interested in making money.. I kind of understand the limitations of these schools in there accreditation’s but am still interested.. I guess I would like to hear some feedback from others who have attended some holistic schools online or in southern california or arizona..such as the natural healing institute in san diego or Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in az!! I would like to learn more about holistic nutrition for my self and maybe become a nutrition coach and help others prevent diseases through whole foods and stuff..

Nutritionist isn’t a real occupation, any one can call themselves it (and most do) without any training and just rely on silly websites with made up advice. You could become a health dietitian, this at least requires proper study and education, but to be honest if you’ve already got a good degree then looking at nutrition as an occupation seems like a step backwards.

Edit: There’s only one school like that in england for a very good reason, the subject isn’t a real occupation.
