Scientists have proven that having a pedicure can be very helpful. Pedicures aren’t just good for helping your feet feel better; when they include massage, pedicures are helpful for things like lessening your pain, raising your circulation, and lowering your stress levels. But then, a lot of people aren’t really happy about the idea of professional pedicures. Professional pedicures involve using the same tools that have been used on many other individuals and you aren’t able to tell whether or not those tools meet hygienic standards. Fortunately, it’s possible to give yourself pedicures. Here is what you have to do if you would like to experience all the benefits of a pedicure without stepping out of your front door.
To start, try removing any existing polish using a non-acetone polish remover (acetone can cause many health problems). Trim your toenails straight across and use a nail file to smooth down any roughness. Only clip the nails using a toenail clipper, not one for fingernails. Clippers for fingernails are curved and can make your toenails become ingrown and start hurting.
Soak your feet in water. It is good to keep your feet in the bath for roughly three minutes. Additionally, you can try adding things to the water like bath salts, skin soothers and softeners and aromatherapy products. This helps the foot bath be more relaxing and truly pampers your feet and helps them to feel good. You can find ingredients for your foot bath in virtually every store selling bath and body products. There are several that are pricey but choose the ingredients you like the best.
Use a pumice stone to polish off any rough spots and remove any calluses that might still be there after your foot bath. Don’t use a callus shaver (or something similar). A plain and good old pumice stone should be enough.
Rinse your feet when you are finished using the pumice stone. When you’ve rinsed off the foot soak and any callus dust or dust from the pumice stone, slather some moisturizing lotion. You will come across many different types of moisturizing lotions that are made specifically for the feet. Don’t settle for just rubbing in the lotion, but you can if you are in a hurry. But you have time, try to massage it in. The massage is good for the rest of your body, not only your feet.
Once your feet are clean, clear of calluses and moisturized, it is time to prep them to be gorgeous. This is not a crucial step, but knowing that your feet are pretty can help you feel better about the rest of you, even if you keep your feet closed into shoes most of the day. Try using a cuticle pusher to work on your cuticles (the cuticle trimmers can cause cuts and other problems). Your base coat should be of a good nail strengthening polish. And once that dries, you can use any color of nail polish you prefer.
Do-it-yourself pedicures can be done fairly quickly and are normally cheaper than those that you would get professionally. DIY pedicures are wonderful for your whole body health, so get started!
