Due to a car accident, our child is on an all liquid diet. We could use ideas, other than what the doc gave us. We have learned how to freeze some things, like vegetable juice and then he drinks it through a straw, or eats it in small frozen pieces, small enough to get through his mouthwires. Jaw is wired shut. In the hospital, he had nutrition through feeding tubes. Please give ideas for a balanced diet! Also, we are having trouble getting enough calories into him. I’m scared. He has to do this for 4 weeks! The docs say he won’t starve. I’m not so sure!
A great thing to do on a liquid diet is drink protien shakes so you have those nutrients. Also Get some baby food, that is usually liquidy or mushie and would be easy to eat.. If he has to use a stram baby food also can be drank througha straw, It will also give him the nutrients he needs.
As you may know soups also can help, but get old fast.
I am sorry for this situation I hope he gets better quickly.

Get ensure, they taste like milkshakes and provide all the nutrients and vitamins that will replace meals. Also get pedialite. Pedialite is great to keep him hydrated, like gatorade without all the extra sugars added. Also, in my food stores around me, in the produce section there are these great, all natural drinks made by Bolthouse Farms. They have tomatoe juice, passion fruit (carrot, apple, passion fruit), strawberry smoothie, vanilla chai, lemonade (my favorite), ect.. These are great!!! Good luck! Hope he gets well very soon!

your new take out restaurant for him will have to be any power smoothie, or jambe juice. There you can get plenty different kinds of smoothies for him to drink. If you wanna make some at home, purchase protein powder from any local health store and you can be as creative as you want. My personal fav is starwberry flavor. it mixes well with pretty much any kind of berries and bananas. Since he’s drinking these as a must instead of a choice, don’t be afraid to add juices, syrups, or sugar for flavor. They also mix well with milk too. If you wanna keep him up with veggies, try those V8 drinks, they come in plenty of varieties now. I know four weeks seems long, but it’ll fly by, once you start mixing. If you want ideas you can check out the jamba juice website for recipes. Don’t forget milkshakes, make great meals too, which you can also add protein powder to. Oatmeal with extra milk is also drinkable, and you can pretty much blend any knod of cereal with milk so it’s drinkable too. Be creative, luckily it’s summer too,so there are plenty of rruit s around . you’ll have plenty! Good luck!
